National Assembly President Wants to Send Officials to Train in Indonesia

PHNOM PENH: National Assembly President Khuon Sudary wants to send parliamentary officials to Indonesia to exchange experiences and strengthen their capacity so that they can better serve members of parliament and the people more effectively.

At a meeting with Indonesian Ambassador Santo Darmosumarto on Tuesday morning, President Khuon Sudary spoke about the relationship between Indonesia and Cambodia, noting that the trade volume between the two countries reached nearly $1 billion last year.

She added that she would like to send officials from the General Secretariat of the National Assembly to study the experience of parliamentary and gender assistance in Indonesia.

Chief of Khuon Sudary’s Cabinet, Keo Piseth, said that the National Assembly President wants to promote gender equality within the Cambodian parliament in order to promote their work. He said that the Cambodian and Indonesian representatives also discussed enhancing people-to-people relations between the two countries, in addition to strengthening parliamentary relations for the common good, without interfering in internal affairs in between the two.
